Course One (Thursday)

  • Abstract Company @ The Workshop 27A Russell Square Brighton, England, BN1 2EE United Kingdom (map)

Abstract Company are offering a 10 week course for home educated and young people to use art and drama to explore their feelings, enjoy positive time in a group, and develop self knowledge.

We are inviting children to form a small, creative, nurturing group that will meet for 3 hours each week, at the same time, and in the same place. In the group children/young people can use creative approaches to express themselves and build relationships with their peers.

The space will be allowing and safely held with clear values around kindness and emotional safety. Each week the group will work with a different folk tale or traditional story, using play and drama to bring the story to life.

Each week the group will move from work with drama to work with visual arts to explore the content of the story in innovative ways. Participants will be invited to engage in their own way and may choose to work with clay, print making, paint or textile.

No one has to be ‘good at drama’ or ‘good at art’. No one will be made to perform or do anything they don’t feel comfortable with.

The age range of the group will depend on numbers and on who wishes to join the group. We aim to limit the age bracket to a two year ‘window’ to ensure we meet the needs of all ranges, providing a truly tailored and personalised response.

Please contact us to express an interest and find out more.

The group will run every Thursday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and will be held at The Workshop, 27a Russell Square, Brighton, BN1 2EE.

Cost: £200.00 for 10 x 3 hour sessions (£20.00 per session)
