Becca & Lucy

Becca has 20 years experience of running creative art workshops, in primary schools and in the community, for young people from early years to teens. In the workshops participants make collaborative art works, while developing peer interaction and individual creative expression.

Since completing an MA in Constructed Textiles at the Royal College of Art, Becca’s own creative interests have been interdisciplinary and she uses a range of materials such as metals and ceramics as well as textiles. Her work has been used in the fashion and interior design industry. Drawing on this background and technical knowledge, she encourages young people to think innovatively, learn through experience, explore and experiment.

The design of workshops can be based on particular needs of the group. Examples might be a therapeutic emphasis or to link in with an educational curriculum. Becca is currently working with groups of primary school children helping them to engage with nature and understand the health and wellbeing benefits of the outdoors.

As well as workshops, Becca offers individual support to develop creative abilities and self confidence. The participant is introduced to a range of techniques and processes as well as the work of influential artists and designers. A further aspect is learning to use cultural resources. As with workshops, sessions are geared to the needs of the person, whether these are to build a portfolio for further study, or improve wellbeing.
